What We Do

The New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs protects the public from fraud, deceit and misrepresentation in the sale of goods and services.

Below is a listing of the various sections and units within the Division of Consumer Affairs.

* Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)
The ADR Unit resolves disputes without having to go through the traditional court system.
* Bureau of Securities, New Jersey (BOS)
The BOS is New Jersey’s securities regulatory agency. It is part of the Division of Consumer Affairs.

The New Jersey Small Business Development Centers (NJSBDC) network helps small businesses expand operations, manage growth or launch new ventures. With offices in every county of the state, NJSBDC consultants help small business owners finance, market and manage their ventures.

The Treasury Orders and Directives System* contains the Department's primary management documents. These documents establish policy and assign responsibilities to Secretarial Officers.

Treasury Orders are documents signed by the Secretary or Deputy Secretary that:
* delegate authority residing in the Secretary or Deputy Secretary to senior Treasury officials;

The IRS Restructuring and Reform Act of 1998 prompted the most comprehensive reorganization and modernization of IRS in nearly half a century. The IRS reorganized itself to closely resemble the private sector model of organizing around customers with similar needs.

To support its structure and ensure accountability, the IRS is divided into three commissioner-level organizations:
Commissioner

Specialized IRS units report directly to the Commissioner’s office. The IRS Chief Counsel also reports to the Treasury General Counsel on certain matters.
